| RAIPUR – THE CAPITAL CITY & INDUSTRIAL HUB OF CHHATTSIGARH : |
| Raipur when was a part of Madhya Pradesh was used to be the Third Commercial Capital of Madhya Pradesh after the city of Indore and Dewas. Now also it is primarily a commercial city. Traditionally, the city of Raipur has been described as "an agricultural-processing and saw-milling town". The city is located centrally in the state of Chhattisgarh, and now serves as a regional hub for trade and commerce for a variety of local agricultural and forest products. Recently, There are several small-scale industries, |
 |
which include oil milling, soap manufacturing, agarbatti, papad, chawal, poha, chai, cofi, biskut, moomphali saabu daane, chutney, achaar, namkeen, chiwda and electrical welding.
After Formation of Chhattisgarh state and Raipur as its Capital, the traditional face of city has changed, and the city of Raipur and its neighborhood are now becoming an important regional commercial and industrial destination for the coal, power, steel and aluminum industries. Close to Raipur, several industries have developed:
Several cement units :
Marble cutting and polishing industries
Granite cutting and polishing industries
Several sponge iron unit.
Integrated steel plants.
Induction furnace.
Many power generation plants.
Raipur is among the richest cities & India’s biggest iron market - there are about 173 steel rolling mills, 170 sponge iron plants, more than 250 steel plants, 800 agro-industries and 70 Ferro-alloy plants in and around the city. There are more than 300 rice milling plants, and all major and local cement manufacturing companies have a presence in the city. Raipur, like many other Tier II Indian cities, is experiencing a boom in construction and development. Firms like Indigo Design & Engineering Associates PLC., Soma Developers, DLF, Omaxe, Merlin group etc. are among the trailblazers in the city. The new airport along with improved road and rail infrastructure is expected to give a general fillip to the city. In the state of Chhattisgarh is coming 5 years upto 2015 nearly 30,000 MW power generation will commence.
Raipur, the present capital city of the State of Chhattisgarh, is a fast developing important, Industrial, Commercial and Administrative centre. Raipur traditionally, has been a centre of trade and commerce catering to the needs of Chhattisgarh, Orissa, a part of Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
Chhattisgarh is a state of prospects. Endowed with abundance of forest and mineral resources, it has great prospects of industrial development. Rich in minerals like Iron-ore, Bauxite, Coal, Lime-stone and being power surplus state, there is tremendous scope for Steel and allied industries, Aluminum industries and Cement plants in the state. The state is surging ahead in the path of development. Being centrally located, mineral rich and power surplus state, it has caught attention of investors all over the country, and also abroad, to establish their industry in the state.
To match the footsteps of contemporary time and current trend, innovative areas of technology have been introduced in the syllabi of academic institutions. New Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics are likely to be added to a considerable number to fulfill the requirement of existing and upcoming industries in the state as well as the country. This has to be done by making technical education more and more practical oriented with qualified and competent faculty and by up gradation of laboratories.
To cater the increased need of manpower due to expansion of industrial sector it will be viable and have great prospect to new institutes in each of the districts of the state. At present six districts in the state, namely, Kanker, Dantewada, Jashpur, Bijapur, Narayanpur and Korea do not have any Engineering College or Polytechnic.
Chhattisgarh, a 21st century State, came into being on November 1, 2000. Larger than Tamil Nadu, it is just the right size, and is also fortunate to have a low population density. Good Governance is the highest priority in this Fast Track State. There is both policy stability as well as political stability. Government has been kept small and the State is in excellent fiscal health.
Chhattisgarh contributes substantially to the Human Resources of India. Several hundred students from the State qualify for admissions in prestigious academic institutions every year. A unique Private Universities Act has been passed to attract investments in quality higher-education. |

| PROSPECTS CHHATTISGARH : |
Since the early eighties, due to rapid industrialization and economic growth, engineering and technical education in India have been developing faster than anywhere else in the world and India now has the second largest number of engineering students in the world.
India also has the second largest population, with more than one thousand million people.
Recent development in scientific, industrial and technological sector, particularly in nuclear and missile technology, computer engineering and information science has earned India world recognition as an emerging global power.
India due to availability of cheap, quality and English speaking manpower is developing as a hub for Information & Technology, BPO , Automobile etc Industry
Since technical education determines the development and socio-economic condition of a nation, there is a greater need for high quality technical education to produce technically skilled manpower in India.
Currently only 23% of the eligible youth are able get the higher education.
Even during the great global recession last year there is not much effect in the Employment market except few sectors like Aviation. IT, BPO, textile etc. Further the signs of economic revival are clearly visible and in fact the IT industry have started doling out bonuses , incentives for rationing the man power and are declaring / in process of hiring new manpower.
Though India is posing to become economical hub there are certain parts of the country which are comparatively very underdeveloped especially in parlance to education / creation of educated / professional manpower .
Disha Education Society, a philanthropic organization, promoted by reputed and renowned Industrialist & philanthropist Shri Surendra Kumar Jain, has taken the Job to develop CG not only to cater to the present Higher Education need but to develop it as an education centre.
In 2001 when Disha started its endeavor to educate this part of India there were just 42 colleges of Higher Education, 8 Technical Institutes and two Universities at CG in a population of more than 20 million. Presently CG state has 6 State University, Two Private University, 153 Higher Education Colleges and 49 Technical Institutes. In 9 years the growth of Population is about 6%. Thus the CG state is now self depended in respect of Education and is fast emerging as an education Hub and we at Disha boast for carrying the flag for this phenomenal success.
